While this won’t have context for some of you that might read this blog, this week was the MVP Summit at Microsoft. I had the honor of hosting the last 4 summits and up until 2 months ago was responsible for this years summit as well.  Even with my exit from Microsoft I was welcomed back to give an opening day keynote to 1700+ MVPs on Social Media and online communities.  Awesome audience.  I got to spend the week with the “gang” attending some sessions, evening events, hallway conversations and bottom line just reconnecting with amazing friends from all over the world.  I owe the MVPs and my colleagues at Microsoft associated with the program an huge debt.  These past years running this program have taught me an incredible amount about communities, about Microsoft, about business, about cultures…and more importantly about myself.  What an inspiration – thanks for sharing your space again with me this year!

Thank you!  Thank you!  Thank you!  Safe travels home and I hope I see you again next year…I’m pretty sure I can get into the summit as a guest!!

    Take care!

And, if you are interested in developing an influencer program, you can’t ask for much better or accurate press characterization than this:

Real influencer programs that work long term have to embrace the “unabashedly critical” … if your “fans” are just fans, they really aren’t as influential in the long term.

I had a blast and was very glad of your opening keynote.

      Thanks for everything Sean.

      Hi Sean,

I am waiting for my fligth to Ecuador at the LAX airport… checking my pictures, videos, business cards, notes, etc. that make me remember how valuable is this program for us, the people who like to go deep into technology, share knowledge with others and provide feedback to the ones who build those products.

Microsoft is a very listener company and makes one feels great because every comment (specially those things I do not like, or do not think are rigth for my product) is considered very seriously for the product teams. They have demonstrated willingness to sharing and collaborating with us in order to improve the products we use every day.

This is my second summit, and there’s nothing more to say than thank you to all who made it possible, each minute I invest on it is worth it.

btw, it was great to see you there, hope to see you next summit

      Cheers,

Thank you for your time and commitment to the Microsoft MVP program. Your presentation at the last Canadian MVP Open Day changed the way I think about the MVP program, my web forum, and in a more general sense the Internet and how it has changed our society. I look forward to your evolving insights into the future of the Internet and how it affects social structures.

      Hi Sean,

Great talk you gave at the summit. I intended to shake hands and wish you all the best with your new venture, but the Summit program was to crammed with useful stuf for me this time to do that. So let me do this here:

Good luck with your new job!
